Who handles the billing?

Whenever possible we work with our client HMO’s to handle the billing and premium collection. Our clients have found this to be more appealing to employers as they receive one bill, remit premium to one location, and pay with one check for all their employee benefits. If this is not possible, OLB is equipped to handle billing and premium collection. We in turn remit to you your percentage of the premium along with any commissions for your licensed agents.

What if our members have a question about their ancillary benefit policy or coverage?

OLB has dedicated a toll-free number specifically for members with questions regarding their ancillary benefits. The caller will be prompted to select a number corresponding with the ancillary benefit about which he or she has a question. They will then be routed to the correct carrier handling that particular ancillary benefit. For example, if the member has a question regarding dental benefits, he or she will be prompted to select number 2 and will then be routed to our dental carrier's member services department.

Will our members receive ID cards?

Yes, members will receive ID cards for dental benefits only. On their ID card it will indicate the member services number of your Health Plan, where they will be prompted to select the appropriate number for their dental benefits.

What are the commission levels?

Although we have established total compensation levels for both the agent and the HMO, we pay the HMO and it in turn pays the agent in the HMO's normal commission run. In this way, the HMO may determine how much of the total compensation to pay to the agent and how much to keep for its share.

How much do we as the HMO get?

The standard percentage of premium for the HMO is 5% of the gross premium for most products if you are handling the billing and 3.5% of the gross premium if OLB handles the billing.

What's the first step?

The first step is to complete the HMO questionnaire; this allows us to look at your block of existing business and set rates and underwriting guidelines accordingly.

Will our member service representatives have to learn ancillary benefits?

No. Because OLB has dedicated a special toll-free number that will handle all ancillary member service issues, we only ask that your phone system be equipped to handle transferring calls from your main prompt to our toll-free number. At that time, they will be asked to select the appropriate number for the product as to which they have a question. The member will then be transferred to the proper affiliate for that particular ancillary benefit.
